Digital Citizenship Meaning is run by AAA Internet Brands, LLC. This page explains how we handle information on digitalcitizenshipmeaning.com. Given what this site is about, we try to practice what the guide preaches.

What you give us

The contact form and newsletter. If you write to us or subscribe, we store your name, email, and message. We use them to reply and to send the newsletter you asked for. Every issue has a one-click unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.

What we collect automatically

Analytics. We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see which pages get read and how people arrive. Microsoft Clarity also records anonymized session replays, meaning a playback of mouse movement, clicks, and scrolling on a page. This is how we find confusing parts of the site. It is not linked to your name or email.

Approximate location. When you submit a form, we record the country, state or region, and timezone your connection resolves to. We do not collect your city or coordinates, and we do not store your IP address.

Cookies

We do not set our own tracking cookies. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own to measure traffic. You can block or delete these in your browser settings and the site will still work.

Who else handles your information

We use Vercel for hosting, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity for analytics, Google Firebase for stored submissions, Resend to email ourselves when you submit a form, and our own self-hosted Listmonk and PocketBase servers for newsletter subscribers and form submissions.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept while we handle them and for a reasonable period after. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link in it. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to object to how we process your information and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Use the contact form and tell us what you want done.

Students and children

This site is written for a general audience including educators, parents, and older students. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are a teacher sharing this site with a class, students can read everything here without entering any information at all. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
